Wedgwood Majolica Ocean' Pattern Ice Cream Tray c.1875

The large rectangular tray with sides of upright scallop shells upon waves, a larger scallop shell at each end forming the handles.

This is a very rare rare shape, only two other known.

Wedgwood's 'Ocean' pattern was one of their most successful Majolica ranges including tea sets, oyster plates, sardine dishes, fish plates, salmon plates and water plates.
