The porcelain ovoid shape ewer with loop handle, the body decorated in transferware depicting the nuptials of Paris and Helen, above and below these designs Greek-style ornament, the handle terminating with a winged mask below. 

The glaze skilfully applied to show the same wear and age as an ancient Greek vessel.

Nineteenth century European designers and manufacturers often used  archaeological discoveries. The simple lines and patterns of ancient Greek and Roman pottery were seen in various design incarnations and applications throughout the Decorative Arts of the 18th and 19th century.
