Designed as. Greek Stamnos Vessel & Cover decorated with mat black ground, gilded handles and a pierced lid with knop handle, the body decorated with Transferware scenes from Greek Mythology. 

The business of Felix Edward Pratt (1813-1894) and Richard Pratt was founded. The company became an important manufacturer of domestic ware of terracotta and transfer printed earthenware.

F&R Pratt created a large range of elegant and well designed Neo Classical style objects. 

Nineteenth century European designers and manufacturers often used  archaeological discoveries. The simple lines and patterns of ancient Greek and Roman pottery were seen in various design incarnations and applications throughout the Decorative Arts of the 18th and 19th century.
