Monumental Minton Majolica Boy Riding Dolphin Floor Jardiniere c.1865 Sculpted by Hughes Protat.

Height: 69cm(27.5inches)

Modelled as a boy riding a dolphin using a sprig of reeds as a riding crop, the dolphin tail becoming a large amphora vase, all supported on a rectangular pedestal base.

A similar example was shown at the London International Exhibition 1862 and the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition 1876.
